Kumaraswamy defends farm legislation, Deve Gowda criticizes Congress – karnataka

Even as the former Prime Minister of Karnataka and high-ranking JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy was fighting for central farm legislation, his father and former Prime Minister Deve Gowda criticized Congress and said the JDS cannot be ended.

“For quite some time there has been a strong public opinion that the Indian agricultural sector is caught in a vicious cycle. It is very necessary on our part to be prepared for any experiment if it can bring the welfare of the agricultural sector by rescuing it from the vicious circle. Therefore, I personally believe that farmers should have an open mind to “experiment” with the new legislation. But there has to be proper coordination between the Center and the protesters, ”Kumaraswamy tweeted.

The former Karnataka CM said the ongoing farmers’ protest on the outskirts of Delhi against three agricultural laws of the Center had started to attract attention not only from the country but from the entire world. Immediately after the concern voiced by the Canadian prime minister, parliamentarians from the United States and Britain have also raised concerns about the episode, he noted.

Farmers’ upheavals have created the impression that trouble is brewing in India. “It is my sincere wish that India’s international reputation and image is not affected by the new agricultural legislation, as well as the protests against it,” he added.

Calling on the Center to hold a “decisive meeting under the prime minister’s leadership to end the farmers’ struggle,” he added that this would be a better approach than sending an indirect message to protesting farmers through its programs. Kumaraswamy added that this was inevitable in the interests of protecting the dignity of the country. “Of course, I am sure that Modi will exercise great caution when it comes to the dignity of the country. Get the problem resolved as soon as possible. “

Hours earlier, the former prime minister and national head of JDS, Deve Gowda, while addressing the media in Bengaluru, said that his regional party would retain its separate identity and that there was no possibility of merging it with any other party. Attacking Congress and his former protégé Siddaramiah, he said: “You gave him rice, milk and various bhagyas (plans). Which it was the result? They reduced you from 130 to 78 “.

Stating that it was Congress that approached JDS to form a coalition government, he said that his party would work to come to power with its force in the 2023 assembly elections. The JDS is also holding a mega convention of its workers and leaders on January 7 in Bengaluru, where he said the party’s next course of action would be decided.
