Farmers must be open-minded to experiment with new laws, says Kumaraswamy amid protests

Bengaluru: Warning about India’s image being affected globally due to ongoing farmers’ protest and urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to end the stalemate, JD (S) leader HD Kumaraswamy said on Saturday he feels that farmers must have an open mind to experiment with the new legislation. However, the former Chief Minister considered that there must be proper coordination between the Center and the protesters for this to happen.

“Statements by Union Minister Rajnath Singh regarding the new laws have given new hope. He has appealed to farmers to allow an experimental implementation of the new agricultural laws.

He has also assured farmers that they will withdraw the legislation if they create any problems. I think farmers should think about it too, “Kumaraswamy said. In a series of tweets, he said that for quite some time there has been a strong public opinion that the Indian agricultural sector is caught in a vicious cycle, and there is very much our part to be prepared for any experiment if it can bring well-being to the agricultural sector.

“Therefore, I personally believe that farmers must have an open mind to experiment with the new legislation. But there must be proper coordination between the Center and the protesters,” he added.

The ongoing farmers’ protest on the outskirts of Delhi against three agricultural legislation of the Center has begun to attract attention not only from the country, but from the entire world, Kumaraswamy noted. Immediately after the concern expressed by the Canadian prime minister, the parliamentarians of the United States and Great Britain have also expressed concern about the episode.

“Farmers upheavals have created the impression that some troubles are brewing in India. It is my sincere wish that India’s international reputation and image will not be affected by new agricultural legislation as well like the protests against him, “he said.

Urging Modi to realize that the reputation and name earned by himself after becoming prime minister can be tainted by such protests, the JD (S) leader said at the same time that farmers should also not suffer any inconvenience. . Rather than the approach of sending an indirect message to protesting farmers through its programs, the Center should hold a decisive meeting under the Prime Minister’s leadership to end the farmers’ struggle, he said.

“This is inevitable in the interests of protecting the dignity of the country. Of course, I am sure that Mr. Modi will act very cautiously when it comes to the dignity of the country. That the problem be resolved as soon as possible,” he added.
