Wasim Jaffer reacts to India XI for Boxing Day test with another witty tweet

Wasim Jaffer came up with another witty message after India named their player XI for the second Australian test, but without one of the two players Jaffer had been supporting. While Shubman Gill received a Test debut, fellow hitter KL Rahul found no place on the side. Jaffer, who had been calling for the inclusion of Gill and Rahul, submitted another tweet to make his point. “New Kindle Life opportunities,” wrote Jaffer, saying “NO KL” when abbreviated.

Jaffer has been taking action on Twitter with his carefully crafted posts to comment on the selection of the India team for the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series.

On Monday, Jaffer had shared a tweet calling for the inclusion of Gill and Rahul in the XI, but in an encrypted and cryptic message to deputy captain Ajinkya Rahane.

India made four changes to its Adelaide Test XI for the Boxing Day clash in Melbourne starting on Saturday.

Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Siraj were included, in addition to Gill, even as Prithvi Shaw and Wriddhiman Saha were removed.

Two of the changes were forced, as Mohammed Shami injured himself while hitting in the second inning of Test 1, while regular skipper Virat Kohli went home on paternity leave.

Promoted

Gill, who reached half a century in the second warm-up match against Australia A that preceded the first Test, has scored 2,270 runs in 23 first-class matches at 68.78 with seven centuries.

He’s likely to open up the batting with Mayank Agarwal, who returns to the spot where he made his testing debut in 2018.
