The poet-turned-politician Kumar Vishwas has found a new admirer in the ruling BJP. On Thursday, BJP Uttar Pradesh President Swatantra Dev Singh showered him with praise for his “brilliant recitation of poetry” in a program organized on the eve of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Offering condolences

Baloch activist Karima Mehrab, popularly known as Karima Baloch, a vocal critic of the Pakistan Army, was found dead this week in Toronto, Canada. New Delhi, which generally refrains from commenting on individual deaths except for world leaders, expressed its condolences to his family on Thursday. While local Toronto police have ruled out any dirty acts, Baloch’s family has sought an investigation into the circumstances of his death.
