Mamata Banerjee starts dancing, then a dig in BJP


Mamata Banerjee broke into dancing at the opening of a music festival.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a music festival and even broke out dancing, in an interlude to the tough four-month campaign for state elections.

Taking a break from her intense bout with the BJP, Mamata Banerjee honored several popular artists at the event, including musicians, singers, and dancers.

As the Chief Minister congratulated the celebrated dancer Santhal Basanti Hembram, she was seen urging her to show him some movements. Someone asked for music and then not only did she kick her feet, but was even seen shaking her leg.

But elections are never far from his mind and his comments later in the event were directed at the BJP.

In a short speech, he called for unity and said that Bengal would never be allowed to become Gujarat, investigating the BJP’s repeated claim to apply the “Gujarat development model” in Bengal.

The national anthem, the national song and the slogan “Jai Hind” were all delivered to the world by Bengal, Ms. Banerjee said.

“One day the whole world will salute Bengal. The soil of Bengal is the source of life. We have to protect this soil. We have to be proud of this. There is no one who can come from outside and say that this place will be turned into Gujarat. the chief minister warned, once again raising the label of “outsider” for the BJP, which is aggressively campaigning to challenge her government.
