Congressional Leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to implement coronavirus vaccines in the country despite other countries starting their respective vaccination campaigns.

India has yet to approve a vaccine for its vaccination campaign, but reports say the government could approve the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine next week. They are also considering the emergency use authorization requested by Bharat Biotech and Pfizer. The government has ensured that the vaccine will be used only when its safety has been proven.
The Health Ministry has said that storage facilities for the vaccine have increased and that initially, the vaccine would be given to 100 people a day, who would then be monitored, but eventually, everyone would be given the injection. Frontline workers are the first to receive the vaccine in the first phase of the vaccination campaign.
The United States has authorized the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna coronavirus vaccines with several high-ranking government officials including Vice President Mike Pence, President-elect Joe Biden, Anthony Fauci, and Secretary of Health Alex Azar receiving either.
The UK has licensed the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine with 130,000 people who received the injection during the first week of the vaccination campaign. The country is currently facing a serious coronavirus crisis with the appearance of the new mutated strain B117 which is 70% more transmissible than the original. Prime Minister Boris Johnson was forced to impose the blockade on London and southern England over the Christmas period to contain the spread.
China has deployed the Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine to inoculate its citizens against the virus, while Russia has deployed the Sputnik V vaccine.
India currently has 10,099,066 confirmed coronavirus infections and the death toll is 146,444 according to Johns Hopkins University.
