Union Minister Rajnath Singh took to Twitter to wish the country’s farmers on the occasion of Kisan Diwas, which is celebrated on December 23, the anniversary of the birth of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.
This year, the day comes amid continued protest from farmers that is moving more and more. Farmers will skip a meal today in a symbolic protest.
Talks between the Center and farmers hit a roadblock after the fifth round of talks, as farmers said they wanted the complete repeal of the three farm laws. Unless the Center grants it, there will be no further talks, the agitators said. The Union Ministry of Agriculture has invited farmers to the sixth round of talks, the date of which will be decided by farmers.
“Today, on the occasion of the Day of the Peasant, I greet all the collaborators of the country. They have provided food security to the country. Some farmers are concerned about farm laws. The government speaks to you with total sensitivity. I hope they withdraw their movement soon, ”Rajnath Singh tweeted.
Reiterating that agricultural reforms will not harm farmers, Rajnath Singh wrote: “Chaudhary Charan Singh wanted farmers’ incomes to increase, their crops to earn remunerative prices and their honor protected. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was inspired by him and took various measures for the welfare of farmers. It will not allow the interests of farmers to be harmed. “
“Former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singhji was a pioneer among the country’s agricultural leaders. The country will always remember his contribution, ”Rajnath Singh wrote.
