Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Governor Manoj Sinha congratulated voters and the electoral machinery of the Union Territory for the successful conduct of the first District Development Council (DDC) elections. “Strengthening the three tiers of the Panchayati Raj system in J&K, the DDC elections were held for the first time in the UT, and the response to the DDC elections has been very encouraging,” said Sinha. UT polling stations witnessed long lines of enthusiastic voters and people turned out to vote in large numbers, with a percentage turnout even in the percentage traditionally under areas that register multiple increases compared to the parliamentary and panchayat elections held previously, showing that the faith of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the democratic process has deepened, “said the lieutenant governor.
