Rave party arrested in Kerala’s Vagamon, 60 arrested

Prohibited drugs such as LSD, heroin, marijuana and gum were seized from the raided group.

Kerala police arrested more than 60 people on Sunday night after organizing a rave party and seizing drugs in Vagamon, in the Idukki district of Kerala. The party, which was taking place at a private resort in Idukki, was interrupted on Wednesday night. The complex is reportedly owned by a former president of CPI Panchayat who lives in the town.

The Idukki Police Superintendent reportedly received a tip that a rave was taking place, and on Wednesday afternoon the lead policeman organized a 100-member squad of police officers, which also included women. Sixty people, 25 of whom are women, were arrested after the raid. Prohibited drugs such as LSD, heroin, gum, marijuana, etc. were seized from the compound.

LSD, known colloquially as acid, is a hallucinogenic drug. The effects of the drug include altered thoughts, feelings, and awareness of the environment. Some users also have visual and auditory hallucinations. Marijuana, also known as cannabis, is a psychoactive drug used for both medicinal and recreational purposes.

Officers from the neighborhood police stations were tied up to form a team to raid the town. Reports also indicate that the private complex where the rave was taking place had also previously been under police scan for hosting similar raves.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, large gatherings, including late-night parties, have been reduced in the state. The police reportedly received information that the party at the Vagamon resort also had prominent guests.

Reports have also indicated that people from the film industry and television industry were included on the guest list who have now been arrested at the scene. The private complex has been identified as the Cliff Inn, in Vattathala in Vagamon.
