Legendary Indian hitter Sunil Gavaskar wants KL Rahul to open in place of an out-of-form Prithvi Shaw in Test 2 against Australia at MCG starting December 26.
The former captain of India wants Shubman Gill to play in the middle order.
“India will seek to make 2 changes. First of all, perhaps KL Rahul should replace Prithvi Shaw as starter. In the 5th or 6th place, Shubman Gill should enter. His form has been good. Things can change if we start well, ”Gavaskar told the YouTube channel ‘Sports Tak’ about possible changes in the lineup.
He warned that if India can’t stay positive, a 0-4 beating could be on the cards.

“India has to believe that it can come back in the rest of the test series. If India does not find positivity, then a 4-0 series defeat may ensue. But if they have positivity, why not? It can happen (comeback), ”Gavaskar said, sounding hopeful.
“India should start the Melbourne Test well, they need to hit the ground with a lot of positivity. Australia’s weak point is its hitting, “he said.

Gavaskar feels that the anger among the fans after 36 with everything in the first round is natural.
“It is natural that there is anger after such a performance. But in cricket anything can happen. Look how the scene was yesterday and what happened today. “
Gavaskar also regretted the missed catches that also reduced the lead to just 53.
“If we had kept our catches well and had good locations in the field, there might not have been any problem, Tim Paine and Marnus Labuschagne would have started early.
“We could have had a 120-race lead. Australia took the lead in Testing because of those lost catches, they lowered the lead to 50 runs, ”added Gavaskar.
