Apple released the iPhone 12 series smartphones in October this year. Now a new report says that the iPhone 12 is the best-selling 5G smartphone of 2020.
According to a report by Counterpoint Research, the iPhone 12 became the world’s best-selling 5G smartphone model in October despite a delayed launch, which resulted in just two weeks of sales for the month.
The report also said that the iPhone 12 Pro, which was launched alongside the iPhone 12, was the second best-selling 5G model of the month. The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro together captured about a quarter of total 5G smartphone sales in October.
And what is more? The report also said that the iPhone 12 also entered the list of the 10 best sellers of 5G devices for January-October 2020, where it ranked 7th. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, which was the best-selling 5G device in September, fell to third place.

The research and analysis firm also explained the reasons why the iPhone 12 achieved this spot. According to their analysis, there is a large pent-up demand for 5G upgrade, especially within the iOS base, which is now turning into sales.
In addition, the report said that China and Japan experienced strong initial demand for the iPhone 12 series. Compared to most other 5G models, which have a regional presence, the iPhone 12 has a broader market coverage. It is available in more than 140 countries, which in turn helped sales.
In terms of total sales, the iPhone 12 took 16% of the market share, while the iPhone 12 Pro took 8% of the market share when it comes to the best 5G smartphones in the world . These phones were followed by the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G, Huawei Nova 7 5G and Huawei P40 5G in third, fourth and fifth place with a market share of 4%, 3% and 3% respectively.
