MUMBAI: The Maharashtra Government has announced night curfew throughout municipal corporate areas from Tuesday for the next 14 days to January 5, 2021 as a precautionary measure in the context of the new variant of the coronavirus found in the UK. The nightly curfew will be from 11 pm to 6 am in Mumbai and other major cities in the state.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray On Monday he presided over a meeting with senior bureaucrats to discuss the measures to be taken. “More precautions are being taken in the state and we have to be more vigilant over the next 15 days,” Thackeray said after chairing the meeting with state health officials and the BMC commissioner.
It has been decided that those passengers who have arrived at the airport from countries in Europe and the Middle East should be placed in institutional quarantine for 14 days and for those passengers who have arrived from other countries they should follow the home quarantine.
The prime minister asked the BMC commissioner to make the necessary arrangements in separate hotels and hospitals for institutional quarantine for passengers arriving on international flights, while passengers will be sealed in their hands for home quarantine.
CM ordered the municipal corporation to provide PPE kits to all personnel working at the airport to control passengers from Europe and the Middle East.
Thackeray has asked passengers who have arrived from Europe and the Middle East to provide information on their travel history. CM said it will hold a meeting with all district collectors and municipal commissioners in the context of the new variant of the coronavirus in the UK to take special care.
Thackeray also asked people, while organizing the wedding ceremonies, to follow Covid standards to prevent the spread of disease.
