Jaipur:
Rajasthan’s Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal resigned from three parliamentary committees on Saturday in support of farmers’ agitation against the Center’s agriculture-related laws.
Mr. Beniwal, a convenor of the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party and an ally of the BJP in the Center, submitted his resignation to the Lok Sabha president, Om Birla.
“He had raised several people-centered issues with the committees he was a part of in Parliament. It is sad that no action has been taken on this. There is no justification for committees in the parliamentary system if action is not taken,” he said Mr. Beniwal said in a statement.
He further said: “As the issues remained unheard and due to the agitation of the farmers, I present my resignation to the committees.”
Mr. Beniwal was a member of the parliamentary industry committees; oil and natural gas; and requests.
He has been supporting farmers’ agitation against three farm laws enacted by the Center. He had demanded that the laws be repealed and asked the Center to implement the Swaminathan commission’s recommendations on farmers.
