Prime Minister Modi’s efforts are not ‘cosmetic or theatrical, says Ratan Tata

New Delhi: One of India Inc’s highest leaders, Ratan Tata has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership during the pandemic. Speaking at the founding week of the industry body Assocham, Ratan Tata, Chairman Tata Trusts, said that the prime minister has not wavered and has led the country from the front through a difficult period.

“In all the years that I have been in business, I have been respectful of what our Prime Minister has wanted to do, the leadership he has given us in the worst year of the pandemic and the decline in economic levels. You have been the bearer of leadership, you have not wavered, you have not escaped, you have led the country from the front, ”Ratan Tata told the Prime Minister.

This is the second such endorsement of PM policies during the pandemic. Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic less than a week ago. Tata said Modi’s efforts are not “cosmetic or theatrical.”

“We should be very grateful for his leadership. Yes, there will be opposition, there will be discontent, but there has never been any hesitation or flight. They got the shutdown, they wanted the country to turn off the lights for a few minutes, it made that happen. It’s not cosmetic or show. It is to unite the country and march our efforts to do what as a country we set out to do, “said Tata.

The virus containment effort led the Indian economy to contract by a record 23.9% in April-June, followed by a 7.5% contraction in the July-September quarter. The government of India took a number of measures, including massive liquidity support to enhance credit support to fuel growth, while increasing fiscal support to provide free food and jobs to the country’s poorest.

The Modi government also embarked on a reform path during the period that included pushing for labor reforms and agricultural reforms during that period, while framing policies such as production-linked incentives for more than 10 sectors to make India self-sufficient. .

Tata said the industry must now show the benefits of this leadership.

“It is now our job as an industry to show the benefits of this leadership, and I am confident that we will. As I have seen in India in recent years, we do tremendous things when we come together. Thank you for leading the country through this difficult period. If we all stick together and follow what you have said, we do what you have done, the world will say, this prime minister said it could happen and he made it possible, “Tata told Modi.
