India faced the ignominy of being restricted to 36/9 in its second inning of the opening test against Australia on Saturday. Incidentally, it turned out to be India’s lowest test score, beating the previous lowest of 42, set in 1974 against England at Lord’s. This was also the first time in the history of Indian test cricket and the second overall that no batsman hit double digits: Mayank Agarwal scored the highest score with 9 runs. Josh Hazlewood took his eighth five-wicket round in Testing, while Pat Cummins took four when the Indian hitting collapsed in the first session on Day 3. Australia went on to beat India by 8 wickets in three days to take a 1-wicket lead. -0 in the series. the four-game series.
Twitter went into a frenzy after the batting collapse in India, many were left in shock by what had happened in Adelaide.
36?!? Woohoo!

With the way India hit and pitched in the first inning, they were in the driver’s seat, but the Australians came back very hard this morning.
That is the beauty of test cricket.
It NEVER ends until it ends. India was overtaken in the second half. Congratulations to Australia!– Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) December 19, 2020
Amazing to witness. India starts Day 3 looking to build on a 62 lead with 9 weeks in hand. All in a session and a half. Bowling of pure class. Burns sees through the chase. #AusvInd pic.twitter.com/aZRFu0KS4X

With just 36 on board in the second inning, Australia was left with just 90 runs to win the opening round. Australia sailed in pursuit, hardly breaking a sweat when Joe Burns announced his return to form with half a century undefeated.
India had finished Day 2 in pole position, having taken a 53-race lead in the first inning after leaving Australia for 191.
India added nine more runs for the loss of Prithvi Shaw to finish Day 2, sitting in the driver’s seat. But all that changed in the fateful first session on Day 3. Cummins began the collapse of India by eliminating night watchman Jasprit Bumrah, followed by the big scalp of Cheteshwar Pujara.
Promoted
Hazlewood joined his pace partner to take two wickets on his first over of the day. Then Cummins convinced Virat Kohli to go on a loose run, leaving India in tatters on 6/19.
Hanuma Vihari put up a brief fight, but Hazlewood and Cummins kept attacking the Indian players. India nearly surpassed the lowest score in history of 26, but didn’t get too far before Mohammed Shami was struck on his right forearm by a Cummins gorilla, ending the Indian innings.
