Another MLA leaves the Trinamool Congress
Earlier in the day, TMC MLA Silbhadra Datta had resigned from the party.
TMC MLA Jitendra Tiwari resigns as head of the Asansol Municipal Corporation, days after accusing the West Bengal government of depriving the industrial city of central funds. He has also resigned as TMC Chairman of the Paschim Bardhaman District.
On Wednesday, TMC leader Suvendu Adhikari submitted his resignation as an MLA. He was the MLA of the Nandigram constituency in the Purba Medinipur district. He had resigned from the state cabinet last month.
Spokesperson rejects Adhikari’s resignation
“I have examined the letter and found that the date is not specified in it. I have not been informed that your resignation (Suvendu Adhikari) is voluntary and genuine. Therefore, it is not possible to accept it. I have asked you to appear before me on December 21, “Banerjee said. Adhikari had resigned on Thursday.
Banerjee added that he has not accepted Adhikari’s resignation as it does not conform to the provisions of the Constitution and House rules.

The Ministry of the Interior conducts a videoconference with the main officials of West Bengal
The video conference was scheduled after a letter from the Home Office asked the two Bengali officials to go to New Delhi to meet with the Home Secretary. Both officials conveyed their inability to travel to the national capital.
