Around the world, the only topic that is being widely discussed is the COVID-19 vaccine. People who want to go back to their normal routine, from the moment before the pandemic, are waiting for some kind of relief, so that they can go out freely once more, interact with others and not worry about contracting the virus. But, according to a recent GOQii COVID-19 – The way forward survey, while the Government of India is preparing for vaccination campaign, more than 50 percent of the population of India is expressing caution towards vaccination.
The survey was conducted with approximately 11,000 respondents to understand the opening to take the vaccine, the perception of government measures to combat COVID-19, and possible future measures, including a closure.
GOQii, the smart technology-enabled preventive health care, analyzed public opinion on interest in taking the vaccine while delving into levels of interest by age and gender. Interestingly, 43 percent of them are unsure and will only make a strong opinion after initial results on the effectiveness of the vaccine, while 10 percent are strongly against taking the vaccine as of now. On an upbeat note, 47 percent of those surveyed said they are willing to get the vaccine and are actually looking forward to it.
The survey also finds that women are more cautious than men, with 48 percent of the male population willing to get vaccinated, while the female willingness is 42 percent. Also with age, the willingness to get vaccinated decreases. Older adults (45-60) and older people (60+) are not as willing as younger age groups. This may be due to concerns about post-shot complications.
Furthermore, 50 percent of those surveyed believe that central government initiatives have been effective in curbing the spread of COVID-19, while 25 percent believe that state government initiatives have been effective. Only 22 percent of citizens recognize local government efforts in terms of effectiveness.
It would be interesting to note that 66 percent of respondents believe that the current slow open method is the way to go, while 34 percent believe that a full lock should be reintroduced. Furthermore, 25 percent have a positive opinion about the current partial lockdown and believe that it should continue, while 31 percent want things to gradually return to normal, where restrictions will be cautiously relaxed and while being monitored. the numbers. Only 10 percent said that there should be no restrictions and that things should return to normal.
“The World Health Organization is cautiously optimistic that safe and effective vaccines for COVID-19 will soon be successfully developed. There are different types of initiatives that the government is working on, at the central, state and local levels. At GOQii we commend the efforts that various organizations have made to help the world get through these difficult times. While public opinion may vary, the important aspect to keep in mind is that preventive health care is the only way to go, as boosting immunity and staying healthy is the best and only viable option in the midst of a dreaded pandemic ” said Vishal Gondal, founder and CEO of GOQii. .
