AIADMK criticizes Rajinikanth and Kamal for ‘appropriating’ MGR’s legacy

“Those who claim that MGR is theirs for their own political gain, those who use his name to reap their own political benefits, can join as a core member of AIADMK,” the article states.

AIADMK official spokesperson ‘Nammadhu MGR’ launched a fierce attack on opposition parties Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, accusing them of attempting to appropriate the legacy of AIADMK founder and former chief minister MG Ramachandran. Mocking those who have used their name to promote their politics, the party has asked these leaders to join AIADMK as a core member if they really wanted to promote the name and fame of ‘Puratchi Thalaivar’.

The AIADMK has been harassed by the casual appropriation of the former CM MGR by multiple political parties and leaders. As early as 2018, Rajinikanth had stated at MGR University that he would provide a government similar to that of the late leader. And recently, Kamal Haasan during his statewide campaign used the MGR name multiple times and even claimed that he had grown up on the latter’s lap. Makka Needhi Maiam’s official Twitter page also posted a video in which MGR garlands Kamal Haasan and kisses him on the forehead during an awards performance.

Similarly, the BJP has also circulated videos comparing its head of state, L Murugan, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with MGR.

Kamal Haasan says he was born in MGR’s lap
Rajini Says He’s Here To Bring Back MGR Rule
As if that wasn’t enough, there are about a dozen green MGRs and parrot green MGRs roaming around.

Oh God … The party that Puratchi Thalaivar (MGR) raised by sowing his own blood is heading towards a golden jubilee. In the 49 years since its formation, it has been the ruling party of Tamil Nadu for some 30 years. In the hearts of the Tamil people and in their homes, the festival of the two leaves has a strong strength.

That being the case, those who claim that MGR is theirs for their own political gain, those who use his name to reap their own political benefits, can join as a core member of the AIADMK.

They can work in the party to further spread the fame of Puratchi Thalaivar. Instead, they think they can use their name to strengthen themselves. They dream that they can use the MGR name to be the nucleus of their political party. This is all an eye wash.

People who enter politics once the art world gives them a retirement, they promise to give up the MGR rule, but why do they hesitate to say they will give up the Kalaignar (Karunanidhi) rule?

Kamal Haasan went to Gopalapuram (Kalaignar residence) disguised as a woman to receive recognition (during the filming of Avvai Shanmugi) and introduced himself as a Gopalapuram guard, but even he refuses to say that he will hand over the Kalaignar government. Isn’t it a shame for the Avvai Shanmugi actor to think that he can absorb the popularity of Avvai Shanmugam’s leader Salai and survive in politics? Whatever, to think that the popularity of the leader of another party and use the neighbor’s name instead of the father’s name is skepticism.

Having retired from the art world, all those who think they can spend the rest of their time in politics claim to bring back the government of purist human MGR (manidha punithar). No one seems to be saying that they will bring back the Kalaignar rule even for the sake of saying it. What do you think might be the reason they avoid making a statement like this?

Especially the Gopalapuram gurkha (guard) Kamal Haasan, who dressed as a woman and visited Karunanidhi only to receive his thanks, did not say that he would regain the Kalaignar rule after starting his party. Isn’t it embarrassing that “Avvai Shanmugi” also thinks that he can survive by leaching Thalaivar’s fame from Avvai Shanmugam Road (referring to MGR)?

Whatever it is, isn’t it the same to claim the fame of the leader of another party and try to use the neighbor’s name as one’s own father?

The article is not the only criticism that comes from AIADMK. On Thursday, Edappadi Palaniswami criticized Kamal Haasan for harboring Bigg Boss Tamil. The CM alleged that the program hosted by the actor-politician for a private television channel is going to spoil the families and that Kamal recently retired from acting and knows nothing about politics.
