TMC’s Jitendra Tiwari Resigns as Head of Asansol Civic Body, Says Hi to Suvendu | India News


ASANSOL: Trinamool Congress MLA Jitendra Tiwari resigned as head of the Asansol Municipal Corporation on Thursday, days after he accused the West Bengal government of depriving the industrial city of central funds within the framework of the smart city project.
Tiwari, the Trinamool Congress District President of Paschim Bardhaman, also praised Suvendu Adhikari as the second most important leader of the party after Mamata banerjee.
“I resigned from the position of president of the Board of Administrators of the Municipal Corporation Asansol. If they don’t let me work, what will I do with the position? So, I resigned,” he told the press.
He is likely to meet Banerjee in Kolkata on Friday, the sources said.

Earlier, Tiwari skipped a meeting with the party leadership to resolve differences.
Meanwhile, he met Adhikari, who left the party and government, at the residence of TMC deputy Sunil Mandal in the Kanksa area of ​​the district on Wednesday night.
Tiwari, an MLA from Pandebswarwrote to the Minister of Municipal Affairs Firhad hakim a few days ago, stating that the Asansol Municipal Corporation has been deprived of the central funds of 2 billion rupees as the state government had created obstacles in its selection in the smart city project.
