The Delhi Department of Transportation has made it mandatory for vehicle owners in the national capital to install high security license plates and color coded stickers for all vehicles sold before April 2019. Violators in Delhi can be fined with until ₹10,000, which can be combined with ₹5,500 under the modified MV Law.
The Delhi Department of Transportation on Tuesday issued 239 challans to vehicle owners for HSRP violation and color-coded decals under a “limited” enforcement campaign. Delhi Department of Transport will soon start a major compliance campaign with 50 teams.

There are approximately 30 lakh vehicles, including 16 lakh two-wheelers, 12 lakh four-wheelers, and two lakh commercial vehicles, which must be HSRP bonded.

HSRP plates: required documents
Vehicle owners will not be asked to upload any documents to the official site. Take your vehicle’s Registration Certificate (RC) with you for details such as registration number, registration date, chassis number, and engine number.
How to order a high security registration plate online
1) Go to the site: https://bookmyhsrp.com/Index.aspx
2) Fill in the details like vehicle number, chassis number, engine number, owner’s name, address, mobile number, vehicle class, vehicle type, fuel type.
3) Choose the vehicle class as “Without transportation” if it is your personal vehicle
4) After clicking submit, a username and password will be sent to the registered mobile number.
5) After clicking submit, you will be asked to log in with username and password to make the payment. A receipt will be generated.
6) When your HSRP is ready, you will receive a message on your registered mobile number.
Suppliers have also started home delivery of HSRP and adhesives.
What is the importance of HSRP?
An HSRP is a chrome-based hologram that is applied by hot stamping to license plates, both front and rear, in addition to the laser marking of a permanent identification number.
HSRPs have certain security features and are protected against counterfeiting. The plates are fastened with a non-removable / non-reusable snap closure system.
