Anil Vij: Condition worsens, Anil Vij was transferred to Medanta hospital in Gurugram | Gurgaon News

AMBALA: Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij, who was receiving treatment for Covid-19 at the Rohtak-based Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), was transferred to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Tuesday night. Doctors decided to change the minister after his condition worsened after plasma therapy at PGIMS on Tuesday morning, the source told TOI.
PGIMS Rohtak Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr. Pushpa Dahiya said: “After Minister Vij tested positive for Covid-19, his CT scan showed that the infection was spreading in both lungs. Because of this, he was transferred to PGIMS, Rohtak. He received oxygen therapy, steroid therapy, and antibiotics here. ”
“When he came here on Saturday, he was receiving minimal oxygen therapy and gradually there was more lung involvement. His X-ray showed that his condition was getting slightly worse. We were not comfortable with some parameters, ”said Dr. Dahiya.
She said that Vij was given plasma therapy during his treatment at PGIMS, Rohtak and that he also had a fever. The team, he said, hoped the therapy would work, but on Tuesday, Vij suffered an acute episode of hypoxia that was worsening and his oxygen requirement was very high. “We suspect other problems in the lungs. We managed to stabilize it in the afternoon. Our team commented that the minister is diabetic, hypertensive and also has a thyroid. In the case of chronic diseases, the organs are a bit compromised ”, he added.
“In certain situations, some high-end equipment is required because the minister also has heart problems. Our team discussed everything with his family to obtain their consent and explained the situation to them. We gave them options to transfer him to AIIMS in Delhi or Medanta in Gurgaon. The family discussed the matter with the minister and they decided to go to Medanta, so they transferred him there on Tuesday night, ”said Dr. Dahiya.
On Vij’s current condition, Dr. Dahiya said: “When he left Rohtak, he was critical. We changed it to high flow oxygen therapy. He spoke normally, but both lungs were involved. ”
Vij had tested positive for Covid-19 in Ambala on December 5.
