Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao instructed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to compile the list of the number of vacancies in all departments across the state.
Pending vacancies for teachers, police personnel and others in government departments in Telangana will be filled and a notice will be issued soon, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced on Sunday. CM KCR ordered Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to compile the list of the number of vacancies in all state departments.
“Primary data suggests that there are about 50,000 openings in the state in various departments. We have to fill them. Teachers and police must be recruited by the thousands. Gather details about job openings in teachers, police and other departments. they need many employees for which departments. After obtaining the number of vacant positions, the notifications to fill these vacancies should be published, “said the Chief Minister quoted by the Chief Minister’s Office.
CM KCR made the announcement the day he completed two years in office in his second term. The announcement also came amid growing criticism of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for failing to provide jobs. The Telangana State Public Utilities Commission (TSPSC) in a press release said they had completed hiring for 35,724 positions in the past six years.
BJP state chairman Bandi Sanjay Kumar, referring to the announcement as a joke, said the move was only to appeal to young people ahead of the MLC graduate constituency elections. The BJP leader said it took KCR more than six years to remember the unemployed youth after the formation of the state. Sanjay was quoted in The New Indian Express, warning that if KCR issued notices only to have them vacated in court, then the BJP “won’t let it.”
In early 2019, the state government had planned to raise the retirement age for government employees from 58 to 60. Several youth organizations had opposed the measure, claiming that raising the retirement age of government employees may decrease job opportunities for youth in the state who are unemployed.
