India has recorded one of the lowest daily cases and deaths due to Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) per million inhabitants in the past seven days, government data shows.
“India reported one of the lowest cases per million inhabitants in the world (158) in the last 7 days; much lower than many other countries in the Western Hemisphere, ”the Union’s health ministry said in a statement.
The new cases reported per million inhabitants in the world in the last seven days were 553. France notified 1,252 cases, Russia 1,330, Brazil 1,387, United Kingdom 1,753, Italy 1,934 and the United States 4,310 cases of Covid-19 per million of inhabitants during the same period.
Compared globally, India had one of the lowest deaths per million population in the past seven days (2), according to government data.

The world reported ten new deaths from Covid-19 per million inhabitants during the last seven days. With 75 deaths, Italy has reported the highest number of deaths from Covid-19, followed by the US (49 deaths), France and the UK with 43 deaths each, 26 deaths in Russia, and 23 deaths reported in Brazil.
Steadily following the trend established in recent weeks, the number of active cases in India has now fallen to 3.62% of total cases.
India has reported more daily recoveries than daily new cases on Sunday.
“The trend of more daily recoveries than daily cases has led to a continued contraction in the number of active cases in India, which is currently 356,546. While 30,254 people were found to have tested positive for Covid in the country in the last 24 hours (Sunday), 33,136 new recoveries were recorded during the same period. This has led to a net decrease of 3,273 cases out of the total active cases… ”, said the statement from the Ministry of Health.
As on Sunday, the total number of recovered cases amounts to 9,357,464. The gap between recovered cases and active cases is steadily increasing and crossed nine million (9,000,918) on Sunday. The recovery rate has improved to touch 95% (94.93%) in the country.
“75.23% of the new recovered cases are contributed by ten states / UT. Kerala leads with 5,268 people recovering from Covid while Maharashtra recorded 3,949 recoveries. Delhi recorded another 3,191 daily recoveries, ”the Health Ministry statement said.
