Chidambaram criticizes the Center for the issue of the farmers’ protest | India News

NEW DELHI: Congressional Top Leader P Chidambaram criticized Sunday central government and alleged that some of his ministers had alluded to the presence of “separatist” elements in the farmers’ ongoing protest against the agricultural reforms.
“Ministers have described protesters against Agricultural laws like Khalistanis; agents of Pakistan and China; Maoists; and, the last gang of tukde tukde, “tweeted the leader of Congress.
“If you exhaust all these categories, it means that there are no farmers among the thousands of protesters. If there are no farmers, why is the government talking to them?” he asked in a later tweet.

Meanwhile, there have been several rounds of talks between the Center and peasant leaders on the laws, but no progress has been made at the front.
Farmers protest against the Agricultural Products Trade and Trade (Promotion and Facilitation) Act of 2020, the Farmers’ Price Guarantee and Agricultural Services (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of 2020, and the Essential Products (Amendment) Act of 2020.
