TRP Scam Case: Republic TV CEO Vikas Khanchandani Arrested in Mumbai

Republic TV Executive Director Vikas Khanchandani was arrested by Mumbai police on Sunday in connection with the alleged case of manipulation of television ratings. NDTV reported. He is the thirteenth person arrested in the case.

Khanchandani was arrested at his Mumbai residence by the police’s Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU), a police officer said. PTI.

Republic TV he has stated that he will move the holiday court against the arrest.

Arnab Goswami, editor-in-chief of the news channel, condemned the arrest and was cited by Mumbai mirror as if to say: “If the subject is included in TRAI [Telecom Regulatory Authority of India]Why are the Mumbai police arresting our CEO Vikas Khanchandani? ” I ask.

Goswami said that the Supreme Court should hear the suo motu of the matter.

Previously, Goswami requested a stay from the Bombay High Court for the Mumbai Police to further investigate the alleged Television Rating Points (TRP) tampering scam.

The petition, filed by Goswami and ARG Outlier Media, which owns Republic TV, also alleged that one of the firm’s employees was tortured by the police in custody.

He requested protection for all employees against the “malicious witch hunt” allegedly being carried out by the Maharashtra authorities.

TRP, measured by recording audience data in sample households, is crucial to attracting advertisers.

The case is based on a complaint filed by the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) rating agency, through the Hansa Research Group, which alleges that certain television channels were manipulating the TRPs.

According to the police, some of these homes were being bribed to tune in Republic TV and some other channels. Republic TV has denied the wrongdoing.
