Huge fire at a chemical factory in Hyderabad, several injured – the New Indian Express

HYDERABAD: Up to eight workers were injured in a fire accident that took place at Vindhya Organics Pvt Ltd, a chemical factory, in IDA Bollaram on Saturday afternoon. Three of them were said to be in critical condition. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Panic prevailed after the sound of the explosion was heard for at least two kilometers and dense smoke from the industry soon emerged.

According to the police, around 1:00 p.m. a large fire broke out in the factory. After hearing an exploding sound, local police rushed to the scene and reported it to firefighters. Four firefighters from the fire department and two other vehicles from neighboring chemical factories were pressured to put out the flames.

District fire chief KV Satish Kumar said that firefighting operations are underway. The police have moved people living inside and outside the factory to a safer place.

Unconfirmed reports suggested that some workers were trapped inside the factory. As most of the workers escaped, it is still unclear whether someone is trapped inside or not. Officials said they would get clarity after removing the debris.

The chemical factory only has permission for 150 workers. It was estimated that around 50 to 100 people were inside the factory when the incident occurred.

In the police report, Mudiraj Venkatesh, 38, said: “While doing his duty in Block IA, near reactor No. 104, all the sudden flames entered the reactor in Block 1-A and blew away. fractured in mishap. “

When contacted by the Deputy Chief Inspector of the Sangareddy factories, M. Praveen Kumar, he said that they will conduct a detailed investigation into the incident and take the necessary action if the factory does not meet the required safety standards.

Meanwhile, Bollaram police registered a case under Section 338 (causing serious injury by an act that endangers the life or personal safety of others), 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible material) of the Indian Penal Code.
