Few borders closed amid farmers’ protest, check alternative routes

As the farmers’ protest will intensify on Saturday as they plan to block the Delhi-Jaipur highway, the Delhi Traffic Police has informed travelers about various routes that will remain closed to traffic today.

Via Twitter, the Delhi Traffic Police tweeted about road closures and advised them to take alternative routes to avoid any inconvenience.

In a series of tweets, the Delhi Traffic Police said that the borders of Singhu, Auchandi, Piau Maniyari and Mangesh will remain closed.

Travelers can take alternate routes through the school toll tax borders of Lampur, Safiabad, Saboli and Singhu, Delhi police said.

“Traffic has been diverted from Mukarba and GTK road. Avoid Outer Ring Rd, GTK Road, NH 44,” Delhi police tweeted.

The Chilla and Gazipur borders are closed to traffic from Noida and Gaziabad to Delhi due to protests by farmers, police said in a tweet.

The police advised people to take alternative routes to reach the national capital across the Anand Vihar, DND, Apsara and bhopra borders.

The Tikri and Dhansa borders are also closed to any traffic movement, Delhi Police said on Twitter. The Jhatikara border is open only to two-wheelers and pedestrians.

“The open borders available to Haryana follow the borders * Jharoda (single carriageway / single road), Daurala, Kapashera, Badusarai, Rajokri NH 8, Bijwasan / Bajghera, Palam Vihar and Dundahera Borders,” Delhi police tweeted.

Farmers protest day 17

The agitation of the farmers has entered its 17th day today.

Amid the prevailing stalemate between farmers and the Center over the newly passed farm laws, farm leaders are preparing to block the road and picket toll plazas on the Delhi border.

In response to a call from protesting farmers to intensify their unrest, police personnel have been deployed to protect toll booths and ensure smooth traffic.

Around 3,500 policemen will be deployed to the five toll plazas in the area, according to reports.

Farmers unions have threatened to block the train tracks if their demands are not met. Under their previous plan to block the Delhi-Jaipur, Delhi-Agra highway by December 12, more farmers are likely to join the protests and move towards the Delhi borders.

Meanwhile, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar called on farmers to stop agitating as talks are still continuing.
