Jaipur: Rajasthan’s top leader Ghanshyam Tiwari, who had resigned from the BJP two years ago, returned to the party on Saturday.

Tiwari, a five-time MLA, had resigned from the BJP in June 2018 following differences with the then government led by Vasundhara Raje in the state on various issues, including the plight of farmers, the demand for reserve for the upper caste and the corruption.

The veteran leader of Rajasthan politics, who had disagreed with then-Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, submitted his resignation ahead of the Assembly elections in Rajasthan in 2018.

“Now I will work against the undeclared emergency in the country and the state to ensure that nobody tries to strangle democratic institutions by power,” he had said at the time.

He had also said that the people of the state felt cheated by the BJP, who had been voted to power in Rajasthan in 2013 and by the 25 seats in Lok Sabha, the party had won in the state in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, reported PTI.

Tiwari had previously alleged that the Rajasthan BJP had become a place for mafias and sycophants, while loyal and skilled people were being marginalized.

Following this statement, the BJP national disciplinary committee issued show of cause notices to the senior leader.
