While the 13 independents backed by the BTP voted for their candidate Parwati Doda, members of the BJP and Congress Zila Parishad voted for Surya Ahari, a BJP member who ran as an independent, helping her reach the majority mark. of 14.

Ahari, 40, is a tribe and has studied up to Class XII. She is a former pradhan of Galiyakot panchayat samiti of Dungarpur. Her husband Balveer said he is not receiving calls now.

BTP founder Chhotubhai Vasava tweeted: “BTP nek hai isiliye Congress BJP ek hai (BTP is good, so BJP and Congress are one).” He also wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on his “new alliance”.

The party has two MLAs, both from Dungarpur, who support the Gehlot government.

Also in Bundi, Congress did not present its own candidate and instead supported Chandravati, a BJP rebel who defeated the BJP candidate by a three-vote margin.

In terms of panchayat samiti pradhan seats, out of 4,371 panchayat samiti seats, the BJP won 1,989 compared to 1,850 for Congress.
