New Delhi: As the stalemate continues between thousands of protesting farmers and the Center for new agricultural laws, a group called ‘Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta’ used the platform to demand the release of people like Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, Varavar Rao, Sudha Bharadwaj and much others. that have been registered under the strict Law of Illegal Activities (Prevention).
Posters of the aforementioned people were installed on a stage on the border of Tikri in Delhi, where thousands of farmers are protesting.
On Thursday, certain people had gathered at the Tikri border to demand the immediate release of all those arrested by the NIA in the case of Elgar Parishad and those of the Delhi police in the case of the Delhi riots.
The farmers’ unions have disassociated themselves from the group that advocates for the people named by the UAPA. One of the farmer representatives said that they had no connection to any such group and that they are only agitating against the three farm laws and their other demands.
Leading defender Prashant Bhushan claimed that farmers are protesting against the illegal and bad faith detention of our human rights defenders. “In the mass protests of farmers on the Tikri border, farmers are also protesting the illegal and malign detention of our human rights defenders. Clearly our farmers have great hearts and great concern for humanity and democracy, ”Bhushan tweeted.
Meanwhile, taking note of the problem, the leader of the farmers’ union Rakesh Tikait said that he would visit the Singhu border and hold a meeting about the group sharing the stage and demanding the release of Khalid and others.
Tikait said the farmers’ unions condemn the incident and assured that the protesters will not stop the supply of milk and vegetables.
I condemn the protest in favor of Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid. Some groups have organized without our knowledge. I will raise this issue at the internal meeting. This should not be repeated. We will not give platforms to anti-nationals, said Tikait.
