Addressing questions about the 2021 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams for Classes 10 and 12 during their live webinar, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said they will take a call on CBSE practical exams based on the COVID-19 situation. He reiterated that the CBSE 2021 syllabus has been reduced by 30 percent and no further reductions will be made.

Mr. Pokhriyal addressed the students during the live discussion on Twitter. Students and parents were asked to submit questions tagged with “#EducationMinisterGoesLive” on social media. Although there were many questions about the CBSE exam dates, the new syllabus, and the exam mode, Mr. Pokhriyal did not address them.





The Education Minister said during the webinar that 17 states have reopened their schools, although “attendance is very low.” Public schools have tried to modify their curriculum. He answered questions related to the board exams and other entrance exams taking place next year, including JEE Main 2021 for aspiring engineering and NEET for aspiring physicians.

Addressing the question about the CBSE Board practical exams from a student named Jigyanshu, Mr. Pokhriyal said, “The CBSE practical exams are held at the school level. In case students are unable to take the practical sessions, then the government will take a call to this. “

Addressing inquiries about the syllabus reduction, Mr. Pokhriyal said that “all information related to the syllabus reduction has been provided on the official website, and all school authorities should contact their students, with respect to it. ”

In response to a question about the lack of time to prepare for the exam, from a student named Abhay, Mr. Pokhriyal said: “Time will be given to prepare for the board exam. Changes will be made to the schedule to allow students prepare for the exams. “

While praising the students’ efforts, Mr. Pokriyal said, “More than 99 percent of the students excelled on the CBSE Board exams. The passing rate was 5.3% higher than last year.”

The students had been demanding to postpone the Board exams as they were unable to prepare with the help of the online classes. Some of them cited problems understanding the topics in the online session.

This year, the CBSE Board exams conducted in March-April 2020 were interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The exams scheduled between March 19 and March 31 were canceled for classes 10 and 12. The remaining exams were held in July, taking every precaution to prevent the spread of the virus.

Students residing in northeast Delhi were also affected by the incidents of violence. Therefore, they were allowed to respawn for some tests.
