NEW DELHI: The Center on Thursday requested a report from the Mamata Banerjee government after Head of BJP JP NaddaThe convoy was attacked by suspected TMC supporters in West Bengal.
The BJP president, who is on a two-day visit to West Bengal, was on his way to Diamond harbor in the Sur 24 district of Parganas when stones were thrown at his convoy.
The ruling Trinamool Congress, however, claimed that the entire episode was planned by the BJP to overshadow a planned event.
TMC today released a report card highlighting the welfare policies and development projects of the Mamata government for the past 10 years in West Bengal.

“Mr. JP Nadda has alleged that he was attacked. But we have information that the provocation came from him, from his own party men … It is necessary to find out if the whole episode was planned by the BJP,” said state minister panchayat and senior leader of TMC Subrata Mukherjee said.
The TMC minister questioned whether “the alleged attack was planned to overshadow today’s event, organized to highlight the achievements of the Mamata Banerjee government.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of the Interior of the Union Amit shah he condemned the attack and said that “the Center is taking the incident seriously.” His ministry has requested a report from the Mamata Banerjee government on the alleged “serious security breaches” during the visit of the BJP president.

Nadda, who managed to reach the meeting site safely, lashed out at the Trinamool government.
“What I witnessed today is shocking and unprecedented. West Bengal has become a state characterized by total anarchy and intolerance. The administration has completely failed and goonda raj prevails. If I have come here for the meeting it is thanks to grace from Maa Durga …. “said Nadda.
“Mukul Roy and Kailash Vijayvargiya were injured in today’s attack. It is a shame for democracy,” said the BJP chief, adding: “There is not a car in our convoy that has not been attacked. I am safe because it was traveling in a bulletproof car. ”
West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar also joined BJP leaders in criticizing the Mamata government and said he is concerned about alarming reports of lawlessness and anarchy.

The head of the BJP state unit, Dilip Ghosh, wrote a letter to Amit Shah and alleged that a “mob” of more than 200 people with sticks and bamboos was demonstrating by raising black flags in front of the BJP state unit office in Calcutta
He also claimed that some of the protesters got into cars parked outside the party office and shouted slogans, and that “the police did not intervene to arrest them and allowed them to enter a nearby perimeter of Nadda ji’s vehicle.”
“As we were on our way to Diamond Harbor, TMC supporters blocked the road and threw stones at Naddaji’s vehicle and other cars in the convoy. This only shows the true color of the TMC,” said the Bengal BJP chief.
Ghosh said his car was also looted and security personnel were beaten.
The vehicles of the BJP National Deputy General Secretary (organization) Shiv Prakash and Secretary Anupam Hazra were also damaged. Hazra also received melee wounds.
BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya was on his way to South 24 Paraganas and alleged that Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers threw stones at his vehicle in West Bengal’s Diamond Harbor.

BJP leader Sambit Patra also alleged that he and some other leaders were attacked while traveling in a car.

West Bengal, which is preparing for a high-voltage electoral battle early next year, has seen several clashes between BJP and Trinamool in the recent past.
