NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party official Durgesh Pathak said that the BJP-led North Delhi Municipal Corporation has given up Rs 2,457 crore, which the South Delhi Municipal Corporation was supposed to pay as rental of office space.
“The employees of the corporations were not receiving their salary during the last months and they were forced to protest. Doctors, nurses, health workers, teachers among others did not receive any salary and BJP diverted attention when asked about it and avoided giving answers. This situation is not new and has happened due to corruption, incompetence and financial mismanagement of corporations by the BJP, ”Pathak said at a press conference on Wednesday.
“The southern corporation owes about Rs 2.457 million to the northern corporation. Last year’s budget document states that the northern corporation should get this amount from the southern corporation, “he added.
“Yesterday, the North Corporation presented the budget. It is regrettable that this enormous amount is not mentioned in this document, which is due. The two corporations have misled the people of Delhi by manipulating this outstanding amount, ”said Pathak.
the AAP The official stated that if the southern corporation paid this owed money, the northern corporation would not face any kind of financial problem for a year and all employee salaries could be settled.
Pathak wanted to know how the northern corporation could give up this money. “When the AAP comes to power in the corporations, an investigation will be conducted on this matter. Each and every one of the officials involved in a criminal act of this type will be punished, ”said Pathak, adding that waiving quotas is criminal.
BJP Delhi spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor called the AAP charges unfounded. “Only an anarchist like Durgesh Pathak of the AAP can see corruption in such an agreement and raise frivolous accusations. The Delhi government is starving municipal corporations of funds. The amount of the rent owed was simply adding figures to the balance sheets without realizing a penny, ”Kapoor said.
“The southern corporation has been seeking the exemption for a long time.”
