Shloka and Akash Ambani tied the knot in March last year in a star-studded ceremony.
Reliance Industries President Mukesh Ambani welcomed a new member to the family on Thursday when his son Akash and daughter-in-law Shloka became parents to a baby boy. “Nita and Mukesh Ambani are delighted to become grandparents,” said a spokesman for the Ambani family.
“With the grace and blessings of Lord Krishna, Shloka and Akash Ambani today became the proud parents of a baby boy in Mumbai,” said an official statement from the Ambani family.
Akash Ambani is the eldest son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani; Shloka Mehta is the daughter of diamond magnate Russel Mehta and Mona. The two went to school together at Dhirubhai Ambani International School and have known each other since childhood.
“Both mother and son are doing well. The newcomer has brought immense joy to all the Mehta and Ambani families,” the statement said.
The couple married in March of last year. The wedding celebrations were attended by politicians, movie stars, businessmen and cricketers.
