The call for “Delhi Chalo” may have been given by the farmers’ unions on November 26-27, the movement is alive and well even now. On Wednesday, the NH-1 from Ludhiana to the Shambhu border was packed with tractors, cars, mini tempos and even trucks.
Banners with slogans such as’ Kisan Mazdoor Ekta Zindabaad ‘,’ No Farmer No Food ‘and flags of various farmers’ unions flew all the way to the Delhi border.
In the Doraha Nagar council area, a pakora of bread and a langar of tea were organized on the side of the road, where tractors-carts and cars carrying black flags with the inscription “Rosh” stopped. The protesters came to take a break, eat crisp pakoras and drink steaming cups of tea. This langar was organized by supporters of the Lok Insaaf MLA Simarjit Singh Bains Party, as their images could be seen on the ‘Langar Sewa’ banners along with a few others.
A stall selling basic medicines was also set up in the same place where Doraha residents prepared and served langar. Bittu Singh’s tractor-trailer stopped in the afternoon and nearly 20 people got out for tea. They had come from the Manna village of Hoshiarpur, the banner on the cart also mentioned Kalgidhar Sports Club. Buta Singh had also placed another banner on his cart that showed a police officer using force on an old farmer.
Approximately 40 km beyond this point, there is another langar of pakora tea / bread, medicine and mineral water organized by Fatehgarh Sahib Taxi Union, Universal Welfare Association and residents of the Fatehgarh Sahib area.
“The langares continue 24 × 7 while the cars continue to pass. Several people are returning and others are replacing them, ”said Avtar Singh, a resident of Jatana village in Doraha.
Near Rajpura, in front of a corporate house gas pump, the langar variety has an infinite variety: freshly baked wheat flour biscuits, cold sandwiches, bread butter, tea, mineral water available at a counter, while a cart from a local gurdwara delivered dal-roti and pickle as well. A team from Desi Guru, a music company, was there to serve langar while protest songs from Kanwar Grewal ‘Pecha’ played in the background. Songs directed at Kangana Ranaut were also being played.
Gurdeep Singh, a resident of the village, said: “I am going to Delhi. We are determined to remove these black laws or you can do what you want with us. Our families also know our determination. “
Neeta Singh, who was having dal-roti langar, said: “All the way on this road, people have organized langar. Once we cross the border from Shambhu, the people of Haryana will continue to welcome us with tea, pakore, kheer, meethe chawal, dal-roti and other things. The Prime Minister should listen to the voice of the people and repeal the laws. We will not return after the laws are removed. “
Jaspreet Singh from Seora village said: “I had gone earlier on November 26 when Haryana was creating obstacles, and I came back on December 5 to tend the fields and do some other work. Now I’m going again. “
