New Delhi:

In another case of politicians demanding special treatment, a Jagan Mohan Reddy YSR Congress leader was caught on camera threatening and assaulting a worker at a toll plaza in Andhra Pradesh after she was detained for allegedly refusing to pay the toll tax.

In the video, YSRCP leader D Revathi is seen removing the barricade in front of her vehicle at the toll plaza in the Guntur district, even when the toll plaza officials ask her not to. The black Scorpio siren, used by the YSRCP leader, is heard in the background as Revathi pushes the barricade to make way for his vehicle at Kaja Toll in the Guntur district.

At one point, she raises her hand to a toll booth officer when he prevents her from removing the barricade; She is later seen holding him by the neck and slapping him when he tries to stop her again.

A complaint against the YSR Congress leader has been filed at the Mangalagiri Police Station, where the toll plaza is located.

Meanwhile, Ms Revathi, president of the Andhra Pradesh Vaddera Welfare and Development corporation, alleged that the rebellious behavior of toll booth workers led to the incident. The YSR congressional leader added that she will discuss the matter with the senior Andhra Pradesh police officer.

This is not the first assault of its kind against toll plaza workers in the country.

In July, an employee of a toll plaza on a national highway in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly beaten up by more than half a dozen angry men because they asked him to pay the tax. The men dragged an employee from the toll plaza onto the road and beat him. Some landed slaps and elbows on his body, while others kicked the man as he fell to the ground.
