Supreme Court: Taking note of the Center’s guidelines, SC says that posters should not be posted outside the homes of Covid patients | India News

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday took note of the Center’s guidelines, saying that authorities should not put up posters or signs outside the homes of Covid-19 patients in the country.
However, the supreme court added that such posters can only be posted in specific cases when the competent authority issues specific instructions under the Disaster Management Act.
A bank headed by Judge Ashok Bhushan said this in its verdict on a request for instructions to eliminate the practice of posting posters outside the homes of those infected with the coronavirus.
The court, which also includes Judges RS Reddy and MR Shah, dismissed the guilty plea, saying the Center has already issued guidelines and therefore states and union territories should not put up such posters.
The Center had previously told the high court that its guidelines do not contain instructions on the posting of posters and signs outside the homes of Covid-19 patients, and there cannot be any associated stigma.
