RANIGANJ: One day after a Bjp worker was killed during a protest march in Siliguri, West Bengal’s chief minister Mamata banerjee On Tuesday he accused the Saffron Party of “killing people at their rallies” and sought to know if it was doing so for propaganda.
The BJP convened a 12-hour bandh on Tuesday to protest the murder of party worker Ulen Roy and alleged police brutalities during their march a day ago to ‘Uttarkanya’, the branch’s secretary of state in North Bengal.
Siliguri Police, however, claimed that the man suffered pellet wounds fired from a shotgun, which the force does not use.
“The BJP lies, kills people; they hold rallies and kill people. Are you doing it for publicity since there weren’t many people at the rally? The police don’t use them … Did you kill a man with pellets for him for the sake of advertising, from propaganda? “Banerjee said at a public meeting here.
He claimed that the saffron camp indulges in “slander at the speed of a storm,” while his government engages in development work for the people at a similar speed.
Affirming that the TMC will not allow the sale of central government-owned coal mines, Banerjee said, “the coal mafias thrive under the saffron party.”
“I had proposed that the illegal (coal) factories be legalized jointly by the Center and the state, so that people can get jobs. The Union government, however, did not respond,” said the CM.
Maintaining that she had rescued the Chittaranjan Locomotive with new orders when she was Minister of Railways, she claimed that the BJP government in the Center plans to close it.
“They will sell railways, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), BSNL, coal, defense. They will rip food out of the mouths of workers and farmers,” he said.
The energetic head of TMC, whose party would fight for a third term in the 2021 Assembly elections in April-May, claimed that the BJP makes big promises before the elections, only to forget about them later.
She underscored that her government is providing free rations to everyone amid the Covid-19 crisis.
“Unlike the BJP that gives 5 kg of rice to the Bihar polls, I have extended the free ration until next June. Our government will remain in power and will not have to worry about food, will not have to pay for cereals, health care or education, “he said.
Maintaining that the BJP brings in “goondas” from outside during the elections, Banerjee said that the saffron party has trapped numerous people, now going from one door to another to carry out a divisive campaign.
The BJP is talking about NPR and NRC, but the TMC will not allow the people of Bengal to suffer, he said.
BJP National Secretary General Kailash Vijayvargiya recently said that his party has decided that work to provide citizenship to Bangladeshi refugees will start from January or February, in accordance with the provisions of the Citizenship Amendment Act.
“Anyone who resides in the state, regardless of their religion or language, belongs to Bengal. We will not allow any attempt to turn our state into Gujarat,” Banerjee said.
Stating that West Bengal will become another Gujarat through development, BJP state chairman Dilip Ghosh recently said: “When people here have great respect for Mahatma Gandhi and some even indulge in politics with his photo hanging around the neck, how can the prime minister, who is also from Gujarat, be an outsider. ”
