Hema Malini has shared throwback photos with her husband, Dharmendra, on his 85th birthday on Tuesday. The couple married in 1980. On Twitter, Hema posted multiple photos of the two together over the years and acknowledged their “respect, love, and blessings” for their long-standing relationship.
She wrote in her first tweet: “Today we celebrate Dharamji’s birthday. It is the love and affection of the fans who still watch and appreciate our films that we remain fresh in their memories. This is what keeps us moving and we need their blessings. This union will last. Thanks for all the love. ” Sharing photos of them as a young couple, along with a more recent photo, he continued, “Yesterday and now. Your respect, blessings and love have kept us together all these years. “
Earlier in the day, Dharmendra’s children, Esha and Bobby Deol, had also shared special messages on the occasion. Esha, sharing two photos of the two posing together, wrote in her caption: “Holding onto this hand for eternity. I love you dad. Happy Birthday. I wish you happiness and the best health always ”. Bobby shared an old black and white photo of himself sitting on his father’s lap and kissing him on the cheek. He wrote in the caption: “I love you dad … Happy birthday.”
In an interview for the Hindustan Times, Dharmendra said that she doesn’t like to celebrate her birthdays, especially after her mother’s death. He said this particular year, he has no intention of celebrating, considering the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing farmer protest.

It was recently announced that three generations of the Deol family will be joining together on screen for Apne 2. The film will star Dharmendra, Bobby and Sunny Deol, and Sunny’s son Karan.
