New Delhi: With farmers’ protest underway in the national capital, the Delhi Transit Police announced today that the Chilla border on the Noida link road was closed to traffic from Noida to Delhi and recommended to people that use the Delhi-Noida-Direct (DND) airway.
“The Chilla border on the Noida link road is closed for traffic from Noida to Delhi due to protests by farmers near Gautam Budh Dwar. People are advised to avoid the Noida link road to reach Delhi and use DND, “police tweeted.
The closure of the border caused great traffic congestion near the DND migration route.
An ambulance, coming from Mathura and carrying a child, was seen stuck in a traffic jam near the toll plaza on the DND airway.
Delhi CM visits Singhu border
Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the Singhu border today and verified the arrangements made for them by the city government. He was accompanied by his cabinet ministers and some members of the party’s MLA during the short visit to the protest site on the Delhi-Haryana border.
Bharat Bandh on December 8
Meanwhile, agitated farmers have called on Bharat Bandh on December 8 and have asked people to join in large numbers. Peasant leaders also welcomed the support of the political parties for the national strike against the laws and demanded that the laws be repealed. Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party, the Samajwadi Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party, the Nationalist Congress Party, CPI (M) and DMK are among the political parties backing the one-day strike.
