Hisar, December 6
The coalition government in Haryana has been affected by dissenting voices from five of the 10 JJP MLAs about the ongoing farmers’ unrest.
Four MLAs, Ramkumar Gautam from Narnaund segment in Hisar district, Ishwar Singh from Guhla Cheeka in Kaithal, Ram Karan Kala from Shahabad in Kurukshetra and Amarjeet Dhanda from Julana in Jind, have expressed their support for the farmers’ protest and demanded the immediate withdrawal of the three agricultural laws.
Previously, Barwala MLA Jogi Ram Sihag had supported the farmers and refused to accept his appointment as chairman of the Haryana Housing Board.
Gautam said on Sunday that he supported farmers protesting against the three agricultural laws and called on the central government to immediately repeal the laws and guarantee a minimum price of support to farmers. He said that the Prime Minister should accept all the demands of the farmers.
“While farmers produce cereals to feed the people, their children protect the country’s borders. Political leaders who are making inappropriate comments about protesting farmers must be controlled, ”he said.
He affirmed that all Haryana political parties must unite, adopt a resolution that favors acceptance of the farmers’ demands and transmit it to the Central Government.
When asked if he had raised the issue at the party level, Gautam said that he did not attend party meetings and that he had not spoken with party leaders in this regard.
Ishwar Singh maintained that he had been a farmer and understood the pain and misery of farmers. Dhanda and Kala issued separate statements, announcing their support for the farmers’ protest.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Ministe Dushyant Chautala did not attend the programs he was scheduled to attend at Hisar on Sunday. Her mother and Badhra MLA Naina Chautala attended a performance at Kabir dharamshala instead.
