Many farmers represented by farmers’ unions, mostly from Punjab and Haryana, have protested what they perceive to be unfair farm laws passed by Parliament. They have huddled on the borders of Delhi and a nationwide strike has been declared for Tuesday, December 8.

Like many other issues, the farmers’ protest has also divided the Hindi film industry, and some, like Kangana Ranaut and Vivek Agnihotri, have chosen to side with the government.

Celebrities such as Diljit Dosanjh, Priety Zinta, Riteish Deshmukh, Richa Chadha, Hansal Mehta, Anubhav Sinha and others have provided support to farmers.

Diljit Dosanjh first showed solidarity with the farmers on social media and then went to the Delhi border in person to protest with the farmers.

Riteish Deshmukh shared on Twitter: “If you eat today, thank a farmer. I sympathize with all the farmers of our country. #JaiKisaan “.

Hansal Mehta replied to Vivek Agnihotri on Twitter and wrote: “Make fun of them as always. Don’t listen to them. As always. “Agnihotri has shared the video of Deep Sidhu speaking with police to suggest that the protesting farmers were not really farmers.

Richa Chadha shared: “For those wondering what farmers are protesting, read Down Arrow. India has been facing an agrarian crisis for the last 2 decades, 12000 farmers commit suicide every year, that’s more than 30 a day! And yet this is the biggest protest of the people who put food on our plates ”.

Priety Zinta tweeted: “My heart goes out to the farmers and their families protesting in the cold of this pandemic. They are the soldiers of the land that keep our country going. I sincerely hope that the talks between the farmers and the government will yield positive results. soon”. everything is resolved. #Farmerprotests #Rabrakha ”.
