SpiceJet flight misses the Guwahati runway upon landing; DGCA Ground Pilot and Order Investigation

NEW DELHI: A SpiceJet Bengaluru-Guwahati flight passed under the runway while landing at the destination on Friday (December 4). Fortunately, although the Boeing 737 landed before the designated point on the runway, it did so on the paved area rather than the unpaved part and had a safe landing.
The General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has grounded the two pilots operating this flight, SG-960, and is investigating this incident.
Comments have been requested from SpiceJet and are awaiting.
Sources say that due to “low clouds on short finals (just before landing), the pilots lost their perception of altitude, which caused a high rate of descent that led to landing on the threshold and caused a forced landing of 2 , 12G “.
The main wheel of the B737-800 (VT-SLL) struck and damaged three runway threshold lights during landing.
This was the first flight of the day for this aircraft and the pilots. The trip was uneventful until the aircraft approached the ground when low clouds possibly caused the pilots to lose their perception of altitude.
Fortunately, the plane landed in Pucca and landed safely. It was parked in the bay and post-flight inspection, sources say, revealed cut marks on a main parking wheel.
