No decision on post-survey alliance with TRS: Owaisi

Hyderabad: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said he had not made a decision on a post-election alliance with TRS, which now needs external support for the mayoral positions.

Addressing the media at his residence in Shastripuram after the GHMC results, Owaisi said the party will decide whether to contest or support the candidacy for the positions of mayor and deputy mayor in a meeting with MLA, MLC, newly elected corporations. and party leaders on Saturday.

However, he indirectly indicated his support for TRS by praising the leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.

Owaisi said that Chandrashekar Rao was a great South Indian political name and TRS a formidable political force. “It represents regional sentiments. I know KCR from when he was the only MLA in his party, ”said the head of the MIM.

Owaisi said: “The results were contrary to our expectations and the BJP victory is circumstantial and will not continue in the future. It is up to TRS to review the reasons for their poor performance. If corrected, KCR will pose a threat to other political parties in the region. “

The MIM chief noted that the party had won 44 seats while running 51 candidates this time against 60 in 2016. “This has proven to be the best strike rate of a political party,” Owaisi said.

“In the Hyderabad parliamentary constituency, we ran 34 candidates and retain 33 seats. In the Chevella constituency, we retained two seats and won nine of the 12 constituencies in the Secunderabad constituency, ”he noted, adding that the party failed to win three seats in the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency. He said he traveled 650 km on his bicycle and addressed 65 electoral meetings.

The head of the MIM said the party had won all the seats where Interior Minister Amit Shah, UP Senior Minister Yogi Adityanath and BJP President JP Nadda participated in the campaign in the electoral district of Hyderabad. “They were talking about a surgical strike in the Old City but the voters have made a democratic strike against the BJP. Who they called Jinnah, the people of the Old City gave a message that ‘jeena marna usi ke saath (live and end him)’.
