“The Publishers Guild India is concerned about the news coverage of the farmers’ protest in the national capital, in which certain sectors of the media have labeled them as’ khalistanis’, ‘anti-nationals’ and other similar terms to delegitimize the protests without any evidence . or test, “said the EGI.
The body also advised the media to be fair and balanced when reporting on the protests.
“EGI advises the media to demonstrate impartiality, objectivity and balance when reporting on farmers’ protests, without showing partisanship against those who exercise their constitutional rights to express themselves. The media should not be complicit in any narrative that repeals the Dissident stereotypes of protesters based on their clothing and ethnicity, “the statement issued by the president of EGI Seema mustafa said.
