Ravindra Jadeja, India’s all-rounder, has been ruled out of the rest of the T20I series against Australia. Shardul Thakur, the fast bowler, has been added to the team for the remainder of the series.
In a press release, BCCI confirmed that the SUV had suffered a concussion after receiving a blow to the head during the final stages of India’s innings in the T20I series opener in Canberra. The 31-year-old is also battling a hamstring injury he sustained during the course of his innings.
Jadeja, who scored an undefeated 23-ball 44 in the first T20I against Australia in Canberra, was hit on the left side of the forehead by a pitch from Mitchell Starc that bounced off the bat in India’s final inning.
The BCCI medical team performed a clinical evaluation during the entry break that confirmed that she had suffered a concussion. Subsequently, Yuzvendra Chahal, the leg spinner, replaced Jadeja as a surrogate for concussion and emerged as the man of the match following 3-for-25 figures.
Jadeja will remain under observation and will perform additional scans if necessary based on Saturday’s assessment.
