A student from the leading Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur received a package of Rs1.47 crore from a multinational company.
In the early days of the placement campaign, IIT Kanpur students also managed to break last year’s record for the highest package from a national company. Last year, the highest package from a domestic company was around Rs60 lakh, but this year, a student has pocketed an offer of Rs82 lakh, an official said.
However, an international company had also made a bid of around 1.5 million rupees per year last year. “We were a bit concerned about the Covid-19 pandemic, but the results of the placement campaign have been quite encouraging,” said the official, who, however, declined to share details of the students or companies who offered. the package citing confidentiality.
Several other IITs have also done well in the initial rounds of their placement campaigns.
IIT Roorkee also said Thursday that its students had received 484 offers. The highest package was Rs 80 lakh, he said.
