Approval will be taken from representatives of all state associations for the inclusion of two new teams in the Indian Premier League at the BCCI Annual General Meeting. The meeting is scheduled for December 24, indicated a notice sent to BCCI-affiliated units, signed by Secretary Jay Shah.
In the notice, accessed by Cricbuzz, 23 issues were listed for discussion at the 89th BCCI AGM, which included the election of the vice president. Mahim Verma, who had been elected unopposed as vice president last year, resigned from his post earlier this year. Meanwhile, the fate of Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah is also in balance, as the proposed amendment by the BCCI has been included for their Supreme Court hearing on December 9.
Other key issues listed for the AGM include “Election of two representatives” to the IPL Governing Council and the induction / appointment of two members of the General Corps and one representative of the Indian Cricketers Association,
Appointments will also be made to the roles of Ombudsman and Ethics Officer, BCCI representative to the ICC, the Cricket Committee and Standing Committee, and the Referees Committee.
There will also be a discussion on “BCCI’s position on the inclusion of cricket” in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. State representatives will also be updated on the matters of the ICC, the National Cricket Academy, the 2021 World T20 and the Future Tours India Program.
