Asus is no stranger to high-end Snapdragon silicon, as it uses Snapdragon 800 series processors in its ROG and Zenfone line of phones. It is now confirmed that it will also use the Snapdragon 888.

More specifically, mobile GM Brian Chen pointed out in an official video that his next ROG phone would use the new chipset. If Asus uses silicon as is, it would be the first time since the original ROG Phone that they don’t use a Plus chipset. Although, the original phone actually used a variable speed Snapdragon 845 SoC.

Black shark

The gaming-focused Black Shark brand delivered two rather intriguing gaming phones in the Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro earlier this year. But obviously it doesn’t stop there.

The Xiaomi affiliated company has confirmed that “the first batch” of Black Shark devices with Snapdragon 888 will arrive in the first quarter of 2021. So you may want to keep an eye on these phones and the aforementioned ROG phone if you want the best experience. of game.

LG

The Korean manufacturer has used Snapdragon’s flagship silicon for years, and also announced that it will adopt the new processor in 2021. However, unlike in 2020, it appears that LG plans to use the Snapdragon 888 for more than one phone.

“Very soon, we will be able to share more about LG’s 2021 devices that take advantage of this new Snapdragon 888 mobile platform,” said LG executive Matthew Crowley. We assume that the LG V70 will be one of these devices, but what about LG’s rollable phone or the successor to the Velvet? We’ll have to wait and see.

Motorola

One of the most interesting announcements came from Motorola, as they confirmed that the Snapdragon 888 will be coming to their devices next year. That wasn’t the interesting part though, as the firm had some notable news for the Moto G family in 2021.

“2021 will mark the 10th generation of Moto G, and nothing would make us more proud than to bring 800 series experiences to this family,” Motorola’s head of mobile devices Sergio Bunac said in a video. A press release subsequently sent to Android Authority It also notes that “Qualcomm’s Advanced Mobile Platform 800” is coming to the Moto G.

We’ve asked Motorola representatives to clarify exactly what this means, as the wording suggests that we may not see the Snapdragon 888 within the Moto G series. This could mean that a Moto G device with Snapdragon is being worked on. 855 or Snapdragon 865.

Nubia

Red Magic home screen

The ZTE-affiliated Nubia brand has delivered phones like the Red Magic gaming series in recent years, generally offering a powerful experience without breaking the bank. So what should we look forward to next year?

“Our latest product will also be equipped with this new flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon (processor) and will be available in the first quarter of 2021,” an executive noted in a video clip.

OnePlus

OnePlus revealed in a video on Qualcomm’s website that it will launch a Snapdragon 888 flagship phone in the first half of 2021.

“We believe that the technological innovation of this flagship platform in 5G, games, camera and other aspects will contribute to the high-end flagship that OnePlus will launch in (the) first half of next year,” said an executive. saying.

Presumably this will be the OnePlus 9 series, as the brand always releases a new numbered model in the first half of the year, followed by a T variant in the second half.

Oppo

Oppo, the BBK brand has also confirmed that its Find X3 series flagship will offer the Snapdragon 888. In fact, it added that the new phone would be launched in the first quarter of 2021.

This isn’t the only Find X3 news we’ve received in recent weeks, as Oppo also noted that the new phone would offer full support for 10-bit colors. From image capture to viewing and editing, you’ll get more accurate and vibrant colors on paper.

Real me

The budget brand Realme is no stranger to the Snapdragon flagships, having launched the Realme X2 Pro and Realme X50 Pro of late. It doesn’t stop there, as the firm has teased the Realme Race as its Snapdragon 888 flagship.

The OEM even showed off a picture of the phone, revealing a sleek device with an Oreo-style quad rear camera setup. Unfortunately, the brand did not reveal any launch details.

The BBK Vivo brand has also revealed that it will “soon” launch phones with the Snapdragon 888 chipset. It did not elaborate, but alluded to past partnerships with Qualcomm for the X series, Nex series, S series, Iqoo range and more.

For what it’s worth, the Iqoo 5 series, Iqoo Neo 3, Vivo Nex 3S, and X50 Pro Plus all featured Snapdragon 865 silicon in 2020. So we can probably expect a similar situation next year.

Xiaomi

The value-focused brand is no stranger to Qualcomm’s flagship silicon, and it was also announced that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 11 phone will offer the Snapdragon 888 in 2021.

Xiaomi executives also posted a banner on Weibo, stating that the Snapdragon 888 will debut first on the Mi 11. The company subsequently confirmed to Android Authority that the Mi 11 will indeed be the first Snapdragon 888 phone, but whether it will be the first to market or the first to launch is unknown.

Redmi GM Lu Weibing added on Weibo that Redmi would also offer the new processor, so those hoping for a Poco F2 Pro / Redmi K30 Pro successor might be in luck.

Snapdragon 888 Official Partners

Qualcomm also showed a graph at its event, revealing all the confirmed brands that will be using the Snapdragon 888 next year. Brands not listed above but featured in this chart include Meizu, Sharp, and ZTE.

It’s also worth noting that major players like Google, Samsung, and Sony aren’t showing up here either. However, we wouldn’t read too much on this, as Google, Realme, and Sony were all missing from last year’s chart list. And we know that both Realme and Sony released Snapdragon 865 phones anyway.
