Prime Minister Modi greets the Border Security Force on their day of uprising

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday saluted the Border Security Force, which protects the country’s international border, on its day of uprising and said India is proud of it. The BSF has distinguished itself as a courageous force, unwavering in its commitment to protecting the nation and helping citizens during natural calamities, he said in a tweet.

The BSF was created on this day in 1965 for the purpose of protecting India’s international border with Pakistan and later also with Bangladesh when it became an independent country in 1971.

In the past, BSF personnel have also been deployed to meet internal challenges, including in counter-terrorism operations in Kashmir.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said: “Best wishes to all @BSF_India staff and their families on the special occasion of your Resurrection Day. BSF has distinguished itself as a courageous force, unwavering in its commitment to protect the nation and assist citizens during natural calamities. India is proud of BSF! ”
